Lake Tahoe (California/Nevada)
The water may be chilly for most, but the scenery and atmosphere makes up for it. Right off the Nevada state-line, casinos are very close. Plenty of trails to go hiking or biking. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby making it a good destination for a family vacation.
