The Ohio State Buckeyes made a big splash in the transfer portal when they added former Kansas City Wildcats quarterback Will Howard, who will presumably the the team’s starting quarterback next season. And it sounds like he thinks Ohio State is a great fit for his skill set.
During his first interview session since joining the Buckeyes, Will Howard opened up about why he selected Ohio State as to finish his college career, expressing confidence in head coach Ryan Day and new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.
“The things that Coach Day does in his offense and that Coach O’Brien does I feel really fit my type of build, my type of player,” Howard said according to Eleven Warriors. “Where I was coming from at K-State, it was a very run-heavy type of offense, especially quarterback run-heavy, which I was very happy doing and didn’t mind doing at all. I’m excited here to where I can be more of that pocket passer and also use my legs when I need to – but I feel like my strength is in my arm.”
We’ll have to see how Howard’s skillset fits into an offense at Ohio State that has elite playmakers at every position. It will be interesting to see how Howard distributes the ball.
