The entire college football world will have its eyes on Ann Arbor this weekend for the top-10 matchup between the third-ranked Texas Longhorns and the 10th-ranked Michigan Wolverines. As he prepares for the upcoming game, it’s clear that Longhorns starting quarterback Quinn Ewers hasn’t let go of his grudge against the whole state of Michigan.
The senior started his college football career with the Ohio State Buckeyes – the arch-nemesis of his opponent this Saturday, before transferring to join head coach Steve Sarkisian in Austin.
Now that the game is only days away, a clip of Ewers from July is resurfacing and making the rounds on social media.
"They're coming off a really big win… yeah, The Team Up North."
You can take Quinn Ewers out of the Big Ten and into the SEC, but you can't take away the hatred for Michigan from the former Buckeye. #GoBlue #HookEm #OSU pic.twitter.com/5UALbgi4pi

“It’s going to be an awesome environment; the place is going to be rocking. Especially all the hype because it’s an early game. They’re coming off a national championship, yeah, The Team Up North,” Ewers said when asked about the looming matchup of two of the sport’s biggest brands.
Even though he doesn’t suit up for the Buckeyes anymore, it’s clear his hatred of the Wolverines stuck with him. “The Team Up North” is a major slight used by players, coaches, and fans of Ohio State to refer to Michigan’s football team as they refuse to refer to the Wolverines by name.
Ewers still can’t stomach calling the Michigan football team by name, and we’ll find out Saturday if his hate translates to success on the field.
