Texas Sen. Ted Cruz spent the Fourth of July celebrating alongside former USC Trojans Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Matt Leinart. But unfortunately for both of them, a photo they posted together ultimately led them to get brutally mocked by a social media user.
On Thursday afternoon, Matt Leinart shared a photo of himself standing next to Ted Cruz while the two were at what appeared to be a Fourth of July celebration, given the decorations in the background.
“Happy 4th,” Leinart said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

But it did not take long for someone to turn this photo into a viral joke.
X user ultralightbehm offered a humorous take on the photo as he joked that a “Bush” was the reason why both of these men were famous in the first place.

“two guys you never would have heard of if it wasn’t for bush leading the way,” ultralightbehm said.
Of course, this is a reference to Heisman Trophy-winning running back Reggie Bush in Leinart’s case and former United States President George W. Bush in Cruz’s case.
Leinart played alongside Bush for three seasons at USC and the running back was a big reason for the team’s success. Meanwhile, Cruz got his political start as a domestic policy adviser for George W. Bush’s presidential campaign in 2000 and was integral in the Bush v. Gore Supreme Court case.
Needless to say, it was quite a humorous joke at the expense of Cruz and Leinart.
