Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is looking to build a winner in Boulder for the first time in eight years. But recently, his son Shilo Sanders pulled a controversial move in a spring practice that is not exactly conducive to a winning culture.

Shilo played a big role for the Buffaloes this past season, recording 54 solo tackles, four forced fumbles, and one interception on the year.

He is gearing up for his final collegiate season. And in a recent practice, Shilo was seemingly a bit too hyped up, delivering a crushing late hit to one of his teammates after a play was whistled dead by several coaches.

Again, you can pretty clearly hear the whistle blowing for several seconds before Sanders opted to deliver the hit to the receiver running out of bounds. And while Deion Sanders was quite happy with his son’s work, many fans took issue with the very clear late hit that seemed a bit unnecessary, especially towards a teammate.

Not only is this kind of play very dangerous in a spring practice, but it also shows a true lack of discipline from Shilo. You would think that a sixth-year senior like Sanders would know better than to hit a teammate way after the whistles blew.

What may even be a bit more concerning is how Deion Sanders responded to the situation, celebrating the hit instead of reprimanding his son for the late hit.

Luckily, it looks like the offensive player on the receiving end of the hit was okay. But fans shouldn’t be surprised to see Sanders receive a number of late hit flags next season if he continues to practice like this.
