On Saturday afternoon, the No. 10-ranked Florida State Seminoles officially opened the college football season with a Week Zero matchup against the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets in Dublin, Ireland. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis decided to make the trip to support the Seminoles in what was expected to be a double-digit victory for Florida State. But it did not go that way.
The Florida State Seminoles entered Saturday’s game against unranked Georgia Tech as a 10.5-point favorite. So when Ron DeSantis decided to fly overseas to attend the game in Ireland, he likely expected it to be a fairly easy victory for Florida State. But in a horrible twist, DeSantis ended up flying over 5,000 just to watch the Seminoles lose in an embarrassing upset.
Florida State took a quick lead in the game, scoring a touchdown and a two-point conversion to go up 8-0 early, but Georgia Tech punched back with two touchdowns on their first two drives. The game was tied at halftime and stayed close throughout, but the Yellowjackets ultimately pulled off the victory with a field goal as time expired.
Needless to say, this was horrible and embarrassing news for DeSantis after he flew thousands of miles to watch the game, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Clearly, he was not a good luck charm for the Seminoles.
