After a long quarterback competition headlined by Devin Brown and Kansas State Wildcats transfer quarterback Will Howard, it sounds like the Ohio State Buckeyes finally have their official starting quarterback as they prepare for the upcoming college football season.

On Thursday afternoon, Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day officially announced that Will Howard will be the next starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes with Devin Brown serving as the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart.

“We are excited about Will being the starter,” Day said according to Chase Brown of Eleven Warriors. “You feel him in the huddle. You feel his experience.”

The senior quarterback signed with Ohio State this offseason out of the transfer portal and will be replacing previous starter Kyle McCord, who left the program to transfer to Syracuse this offseason.

Needless to say, this is a pretty significant announcement from the Buckeyes and it led to a lot of reactions from the college football world.

Last season, Howard started all 12 of Kansas State’s regular-season games in 2023 and completed 61.3% of his passes for 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns with 10 interceptions, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors.

Howard will be leading one of the most talented rosters in college football as the Buckeyes look to compete for a national title.
