After previous starting quarterback Kyle McCord struggled at times last season, the Ohio State Buckeyes brought in former Kansas State Wildcats quarterback Will Howard as a transfer to replace him. And while it might not be the most high-profile transfer addition of the offseason, one Big Ten coach seems to think that he will be more than good enough for the Buckeyes.
Ahead of the upcoming college football season, Athlon Sports spoke to some anonymous Big Ten coaches about the Buckeyes and new quarterback Will Howard. And one coach did not hold back when he discussed the addition to the Buckeyes’ roster.
“Howard doesn’t have to be special; he just has to be smart,” the anonymous coach told Athlon. “That signing didn’t turn heads the way some of the other flashier portal quarterbacks might have, but all he has to do is manage and distribute. They’re absolutely stacked at other positions.”
Howard will be surrounded by a lot of talent with running back TreVeyon Henderson returning, Ole Miss transfer running back Quinshon Judkins joining the team, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka returning for another season and the addition of five-star freshman receiver Jeremiah Smith.
We’ll have to see how Howard performs.
