The Michigan Wolverines are entering a new era without Jim Harbaugh, with Sherrone Moore now at the helm as head coach of the program. And unfortunately, that era hasn’t gotten off to the best start, in large part due to drama concerning defensive line coach Greg Scruggs.
Scruggs was recently arrested in Ann Arbor for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Scruggs took two tests at the police station and registered blood-alcohol levels of .16 and .17, double the legal limit in Michigan.
He was then suspended by the program following the arrest, obviously putting some doubt into his future in Ann Arbor.
On Thursday, Michigan fans received some news about Scruggs’ status within the program. And as some suspected, Scruggs will not be coaching at Michigan this coming season. Moore confirmed that Scruggs had resigned from his new position within the program, first reported by Zach Shaw of 247 Sports.

Scruggs hasn’t been in Michigan all that long. The team had just hired him earlier this month to serve as their defensive line coach after previously coaching at Wisconsin last season.
Naturally, fans had plenty to say about the situation on social media.
The right move. I hope coach Scruggs can get himself right.

The right move, sends the right message for new head coach.

That’s for the best as Sherrone does not need any of this.

Michigan has of course had a ton of controversy surrounding the program due to the sign-stealing allegations towards recruiting staffer Connor Stalions. So there is already a not-so-great reputation for many within the program, whether that is fair or not.
On the surface, Scruggs’ resignation seems like what is best for not only him as he looks to fix his reputation, but also to make sure that Sherrone Moore’s head coaching tenure gets off on the right foot.
