Ohio State Buckeyes superstar wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has been widely considered the top wide receiver in college football all season long, and now he’s been given the award that goes along with that title.
On Friday night, Marvin Harrison Jr. was officially named the winner of this year’s Biletnikoff Award, which honors college football’s top wide receiver. Throughout Ohio State’s 12 games this season, Harrison caught 67 passes for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns, becoming the first receiver in Ohio State history to have back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.
Harrison won the award over fellow finalists Rome Odunze of the Washington Huskies and Malik Nabers of the LSU Tigers.
However, not everyone seemed to agree with the decision as many fans were absolutely shocked by this decision, believing that the award should have gone to Nabers or Odunze instead.
He won this award in August. It was a done deal. It’s a shame. https://t.co/YV61k7fiQv

No real reason for Nabers not to win this. I swear it’s politics https://t.co/A75Ke1Igkv

The people who give out these awards do not watch the sport. https://t.co/BpLIgfF2rO

Like the 4th best receiver in the country this year, but sure. Gotta give them their wins where they can, cause it ain’t on the field 😂 https://t.co/UBSYJF5zV0

Lame. All based on name. Should have been Rome. At least Rome has a chance to take home the ultimate charge … a national title. https://t.co/HF9vuuh09x

I mean that’s cool but he was like the 5th best wide receiver This year https://t.co/aeguxHtbFz

The fact that Malik Nabers didn’t win this award is disgusting.
0 games under 50 receiving yards.
Marv: 4 games under 50 receiving yards.
Not to mention Malik leads the country in yardage and is going to break multiple school records held for over 20 years.
Cmon man. https://t.co/pv5A0a1Sf8

Terrible decision. Marvin had a stellar career thus far, Nabers IS THE BETTER RECEIVER IN 2023. We need to end politics and rewarding popularity smh. https://t.co/h7jNlYiPUi

In addition to this honor, Harrison was also named the Big Ten Wide Receiver of the Year and was named one of four finalists for this season’s Heisman Trophy, which honors the top player in all of college football.
Harrison would almost certainly be the top receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft class and a likely top-five pick should he decide to declare, but he has left the door open for a return to Ohio State next season.
