Following Georgia’s loss to Ole Miss on Saturday, a Georgia player was seen dancing and celebrating with Ole Miss fans on the field after the game.
Head coach Kirby Smart is not happy about it.
Georgia defensive back Jake Pope was seen celebrating on the field with some Ole Miss fans after the game in a video that has since gone viral on social media.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart addressed the incident during his press conference on Monday.
Smart was able to add a little context to the situation as he revealed that the fan was a childhood friend of Pope. He also revealed that Pope was quite embarrassed by it.
Still, Smart made no excuses and was quick to call out the player.
“What an idiot. Just stupid,” Smart said according to On3.
“I didn’t see it until today” Smart said. “He’s embarrassed about it. That’s a childhood friend of his. Just not real smart. But to be honest with you, I don’t really have time to waste on that. My focus is on Tennessee.”
The loss to Ole Miss marked Georgia’s second loss of the season. In order to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive, they’ll have to beat the Tennessee Volunteers in a top-10 showdown this week.
It’s sounds like that’s where Smart’s focus is, despite the “stupid” move from his player.
