After leading the Michigan Wolverines to the College Football Playoff national title on Monday, Jim Harbaugh is now expected to be one of the top candidates for several NFL head coaching vacancies. But it sounds like one prominent Michigan insider thinks he actually wants to remain with the Wolverines.
This week, Michigan Wolverines insider and prominent author John U. Bacon said that after conversations with sources, he is convinced that Jim Harbaugh “genuinely wants to stay at Michigan.”
“After talking with people who know more than I do, I believe Jim Harbaugh genuinely wants to stay at Michigan. He just ‘wants to know he’s wanted,’ several told me, and it’s not about the number. (He gave back $1.5M to department employees to compensate for Covid cutbacks.),” Bacon wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
As one said, "If you want to know what Jim thinks, just listen," citing the times Harbaugh has said he'll stay at Michigan "as long as they'll have me."
It seems the rest is up to Michigan.— John U. Bacon (@Johnubacon) January 13, 2024
“As one said, ‘If you want to know what Jim thinks, just listen,’ citing the times Harbaugh has said he’ll stay at Michigan ‘as long as they’ll have me.’ It seems the rest is up to Michigan,” Bacon said in a follow-up post.
Obviously, this is interesting news as Harbaugh begins exploring his options in the NFL. We’ll have to see what happens.
