Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders lost one of his top players last week when five-star cornerback Cormani McClain announced that he was leaving Colorado and entering the transfer portal. But even though Sanders is losing a talented young player, it doesn’t sound like he has any resentment or hard feelings for McClain.
During a press conference this week, Deion Sanders made it clear that he still wants Cormani McClain to be successful wherever he ends up even though it won’t be with Colorado.
“I want the best for [McClain], man. I really do,” Sanders said according to Fox News. “I want that kid to soar. I want him to man up. I want him to be the best possible athlete and human being and person that he could possibly be.
“Sometimes you need to disconnect from something to reconnect to something else to restart you and re-energize you and stabilize you. I don’t dislike any of the kids that may leave, man, because I just want the best of them.”
McClain has since shared some pretty harsh words about Sanders and the Colorado program, saying “I don’t want to play for clicks” after he decided to leave the team.
