This season may not have been the most successful season for the Colorado Buffaloes in terms of wins and losses as the team finished with just a 4-8 record in their first season under new head coach Deion Sanders. But that doesn’t mean that athletic director Rick George wasn’t pleased with what he saw from the team.

In a recent interview with BuffZone, Rick George made it clear that despite the 4-8 record, he is actually quite happy with how this season has gone under Deion Sanders

“I think if you went into this year, from at the end of last year? You’d be really happy to where we are,” George told BuffZone. “The fact that we’ve competed in (almost) every game tells me a lot about these players. I think when we get a full year with a group under our belt? I think we’re gonna see results that are going to really be meaningful.”

George also made it very clear that he’s happy about the attention that Sanders has brought to the program since becoming the team’s head coach.

“The exposure has been great. People are very interested in us,” George said. “What he’s creating and the development of young men and all of those kinds of things are really important to people. While football is the driver that puts you there, it’s all the other things that have been very beneficial. People see that and recognize that. I think it’s gonna allow us to have great success in the future.”

All in all, it’s the message to Sanders is clear: despite the team’s struggles this season, George is happy with the direction of the program and happy about the future.
