As the Michigan Wolverines are preparing for the College Football Playoff, it sounds like they also might be recruiting their quarterback of the future.

According to college football insider Pete Nakos of On3, the Michigan Wolverines have been “in touch” with UCLA transfer quarterback Dante Moore since he entered the transfer portal on Monday night.

“The former Five-Star Plus+ recruit and UCLA transfer quarterback officially entered the transfer portal on Monday night. Viewed as one of the top names available in the portal, he’s looking to find a home that can help develop him for a starting job, a source close to the quarterback tells On3,” Nakos wrote for

“According to the source, Moore and Michigan have been in touch since he entered the portal around 8:30 p.m. ET on Monday night. A timetable for a decision has not been established, but the Wolverines would check off several boxes he’s looking for.”

Moore was rated as the No. 3 quarterback and No. 5 overall player in the 2023 freshman recruiting class coming out of high school. Though he struggled during his first season at UCLA, he clearly has a lot of potential and is one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal this cycle.

Given that he’s a native of Detroit, the Wolverines would bring him closer to home.
