With the Texas Longhorns officially joining the SEC, this season marks the renewed in-state rivalry between the Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies. And months before their matchup this upcoming season, it sounds like one of the quarterbacks in the game has already begun a little bit of trash talk.
Leading up to the season, both Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman and Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers met up for a photoshoot for a preview edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. Following the photo shoot, Weigman was asked whether or not meeting Ewers made him want to beat Texas even more.
While Weigman isn’t sure the time he spent with Ewers really impacted his desire to beat Texas, he did offer a bold declaration that the Aggies would beat the Longhorns in the renewed rivalry this season.
“I mean I’ve always wanted to beat Texas,” Weigman said according to On3. “That’s a given. I don’t know if it was more after that, but yeah that’s a given, that’s gonna happen.”
Obviously, those are some pretty confident words from the Aggies quarterback. We’ll have to see whether or not they can live up to that prediction when the two teams meet at the end of November.
