Former Alabama Crimson Tide star Trent Richardson has largely been out of the spotlight since stepping away from football. But now, it sounds like he will be returning to the game as a coach instead of a player.
Richardson is remembered by some as one of the more memorable busts in the NFL, coming into the league with a ton of hype and sticking around in the league for only five seasons.
However, others remember his excellence at the collegiate level, helping Alabama win two National Championships while playing a big role in the Crimson Tide backfield. Over the course of his career, Richardson racked up numerous accolades, including All-American honors and the Doak Walker Award in 2011.
Obviously, flaming out in the NFL wasn’t his ideal plan. But he will be sticking around the game of football. Ramsay High School in Birmingham, Alabama, posted on its social media page that Richardson will be joining their coaching staff as a running backs coach.

Oftentimes, players who didn’t live up to all the hype put on them professionally want nothing to do with the sport that they once played. So it is great to see that Ricardson will instead be mentoring young athletes who are looking to find themselves in a position that he once had at the next level.
Richardson obviously has a litany of experience and knowledge that comes with playing both collegiate and professional football at a high level. So he should be a very natural fit in his new coaching role.
