The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team is losing arguably the most dominant player in the history of women’s college basketball with Caitlin Clark heading to the WNBA. It obviously won’t be easy to replace her scoring, but it sounds like the Hawkeyes are trying their best.
On Wednesday, former Villanova superstar Lucy Olsen announced that she will be transferring to the Iowa Hawkeyes for her final season of college basketball.
“New beginnings,” Olsen said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

While replacing Clark will be nearly impossible, Olsen is a prolific scorer in her own right, finishing the season as the nation’s third leading scorer behind only Caitlin Clark and USC’s JuJu Watkins.
Last season, Olsen averaged 23.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game as she led her team in scoring in all but one game throughout the season.
For Iowa, this is a big pickup as the team looks to rebuild its roster following the departure of one of the most prolific players in program history.
We’ll have to see how Olsen and the Hawkeyes perform next year after Iowa reached the NCAA title game the past two years.
