Deion Sanders brought all three of his children currently in college along with him to Colorado. But on Tuesday, his daughter Shelomi Sanders opted to leave Colorado’s women’s basketball team after only one year at the program.
Shelomi Sanders has followed her dad at every stop he has been at, first committing to Jackson State before transferring to Colorado to be with both her dad and her two brothers Shilo and Shedeur.
However, Shelomi wasn’t able to find much playing time in her first year at Colorado. She played in just five games while averaging just 1.8 minutes per game.
For this reason, she took to social media to announce that she would be entering the transfer portal.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank my creator for allowing me to have this platform with amazing experiences,” Sanders wrote Tuesday on Twitter/X. “I want to thank my coaches and the university for accepting me to be a part of the family, it has been a blessing accomplishing as much as we did. I would like to thank my family and my support system for always uplifting and pouring into me on and off the court as a student athlete.
“My time at Colorado has been a treat with amazing experiences along the way. With intentional consideration and prayer, I have decided to enter the transfer portal.”
On one hand, it was probably a difficult decision for Sanders to make because of all of the family that she has nearby at Colorado. But in terms of her basketball career, this move is pretty clearly the right move if she wants to find increased opportunity on the hardwood next season.
