During last year’s NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament championship game, a bit of a rivalry ignited between LSU Tigers star Angel Reese and Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark when Reese mocked Clark’s “can’t see me” celebration before pointing to her ring finger when it was clear that LSU was going to beat Iowa. Now, as the two are set to square off again this year, Clark opened up about that rivalry.
During an interview this week, Caitlin Clark had a pretty clear message to Angel Reese about just how competitive they both are and explained that she expects nothing less from anyone on either team.
“There’s that competitive fire. Both of us want to win more than anything and that’s how it should be when you’re a competitor and you get into a situation like this, whether it was the national championship, whether it’s the Elite Eight. That goes for LSU’s entire roster. That goes for Iowa’s entire roster. Every single one of us wants this so bad. We want to advance to the Final Four so bad,” Clark said.
“So, I think that’s the main similarity is how bad and how competitive we are. We both grew up loving this game, and we’re going to do anything we can to help our teams win.”
We’ll have to see who comes out on top.
