Former U.S. President Donald Trump has always been known to be a big supporter of combat sports, mostly when it comes to MMA as he frequently attends UFC events. But it turns out, his boxing knowledge is also pretty extensive, recently offering his input on a previously scheduled boxing match.
One of the bigger combat sports events of the summer was supposed to be the highly anticipated boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
Tyson had to pull out of the fight due to a recent medical scare. But regardless, the topic was discussed during a guest appearance from Trump on the Impaulsive Podcast hosted by Jake Paul’s brother, WWE Superstar and former boxer Logan Paul.
When talking about the now-cancelled fight, Trump thought that Jake Paul had a good chance at knocking off the former Heavyweight boxing champion, saying that “father time is undefeated”.
We may never see that boxing match. Tyson has expressed the desire to have the fight at a later date, but Jake Paul has moved onto a Bare Knuckle match against former UFC welterweight Mike Perry.
But if the fight had happened, Trump may very well have been on the right track talking about Tyson’s age. At 57 years of age, there is a very real chance that he could have struggled against the much younger competitor in Paul.
Regardless, Trump was overall quite complimentary of the boxing skill of both Paul brothers, calling them “legit fighters”.
