The Golden State Warriors emerged on the Fourth of July to make a splash, acquiring veteran sharpshooter Buddy Hield in a sign-and-trade with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Financial terms have yet to be disclosed.

Shams Charania first reported the sign-and-trade on Thursday afternoon. He posted the news on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Charania added that a 2031 pick will be sent to complete the deal.

Hield will all but replace NBA great Klay Thompson, who exited from Golden State this offseason. After his illustrious run with the team, Thompson joined the Dallas Mavericks, the reigning Western Conference Champions. But it will take much more than merely production to fill the void Klay leaves behind.

The sports world had much to say over the Buddy Hield news on Thursday.
