Pittsburgh Steelers Katie Stratman-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly rummaging on making a controversial signing. The Steelers are in the running to sign cornerback Cameron Sutton, and according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Sutton is expected to go to the Steel City.

On Wednesday morning, Gerry Dulac of the Post-Gazette reported that Sutton, formerly of the Detroit Lions, is expected to go to the Steelers. Pittsburgh’s looming signing of Sutton comes on the heels of disturbing allegations levied toward the defensive back.

Dulac posted on X, “Steelers meeting with CB Cam Sutton today.” Dulac added that the team will sign him to a one-year deal at the veteran minimum salary.

A woman accused Sutton of domestic violence earlier this year. The Detroit Lions released Sutton after accusations of strangulation and battery surfaced in March. The Lions were, by and large, praised for their action in releasing Sutton promptly after the allegations emerged. So now that not much time has passed, it will be interesting to see the reaction against the Steelers. Pittsburgh’s brazenness here may turn into a public relations nightmare, but outcries are often drowned out if the past has proven anything.

If you or someone you know is the victim of Domestic Violence, know that help is always available. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
