The Baltimore Ravens made a move to bolster their defense on Friday. Baltimore signed free agent defensive back Eddie Jackson, who’ll contribute to playing on the last line of defense.

ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the transaction on Friday afternoon. Schefter dubbed the signing a “Ravens-type” maneuver.

“Two-time Pro Bowl safety Eddie Jackson reached agreement today with Baltimore on a one-year deal,” Schefter said.

In 100 career games, Jackson’s come away with 15 interceptions. He’s scored three defensive touchdowns in his career, but hasn’t scored one since 2018. He’s added three other touchdowns through special teams.

Jackson should be a contributor to a Ravens team expected to contend again in 2024. Bolstered by former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson and a host of other talented players, the Ravens figure to be AFC North and Super Bowl contenders yet again. So Jackson will join a team that should be playing in January. He’ll also rejoin former teammate Roquan Smith, who the Bears traded to the Ravens last year.

Before being drafted in 2017, Jackson led a celebrated college career at the University of Alabama.

The sports world had much to say about the new Baltimore signing.
