After the departure of veteran starter Kirk Cousins, the Minnesota Vikings are looking for a new starting quarterback this offseason. And even though they signed veteran Sam Darnold who could fill that void, at least in the short term, it sounds like the team is still considering trying to draft a top rookie quarterback.
According to a report from Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Minnesota Vikings had dinner with LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels as they continue to map out their plan for the NFL Draft.
“Former LSU QB Jayden Daniels is scheduled to have dinner tonight with #Vikings brass in Baton Rouge, per @Agentbutler1. Minnesota owns the No. 11 and 23 picks and has been gathering all the info in case there’s an opportunity to move up for one of the top QBs,” Pelissero said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

This seems like a waste of time for the Vikings and a free dinner for Daniels, Commanders at taking him at 2 https://t.co/1QgkHjxNVq

The Vikings currently have the No. 11 and the No. 23 picks in the draft. While that’s obviously too late for them to have a chance to select Daniels, it’s possible that the team is able to trade up in the draft to select him with an earlier pick.
We’ll have to see what happens.
