The Minnesota Vikings are in need of a new starting quarterback after the departure of Kirk Cousins, and it sounds like there’s a quarterback the team loves in the NFL Draft – but they may not be able to trade up high enough to get him.
During a recent appearance on the Ross Tucker Podcast, former NFL quarterback and current analyst Chase Daniel reported that the Minnesota Vikings are “in love” with North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye, but he’s not sure they have enough “ammo” to be able to trade up high enough in the draft to select him.
“I do know that the Minnesota Vikings absolutely are in love with him. I don’t know if they have enough ammo to get up to that third spot where the Patriots are picking because I do think you’re probably going to have to get to that spot.”

But if the Vikings can find a way to trade up to select him, Daniel seems to think Minnesota would be a great landing spot for Maye.
“That would be an offense that I think he could thrive in with Kevin O’Connell, everything that he’s around – Jordan Adission, Justin Jefferson, all these guys around him. I think he could be a perfect fit for that. I just don’t know if one, he’s going to fall that far, or if two, the Vikings are going to make the move all the way up to [pick] three to get him.”
We’ll have to see if the Vikings can pull off a trade and land him.
