When running back Aaron Jones signed with the Minnesota Vikings in the offseason, it marked a significant change for the player.

The Green Bay Packers drafted Jones in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent his first five seasons with the franchise.

His time in Green Bay was successful. In his seven seasons with the team, he rushed for 5,940 yards. He led the Packers in rushing in five of his seven years. Jones also was named to the 2020 Pro Bowl after rushing for 1,084 yards and an NFL-best 16 touchdowns.

Green Bay replaced Jones with Josh Jacobs, who excelled in his role. Jones signed a one-year deal with the rival Minnesota Vikings.

On Wednesday, the former Pro Bowler said he’d like to finish his career with the Vikings.

“I hope to be here until the end of my career. Honestly, this is an excellent place,” Jones said via ESPN.

Jones has had a strong season, rushing for 1,093 yards on a career-high 245 carries. He needs 29 yards Sunday night against the Detroit Lions to pass his career high.

More importantly for Jones, Sunday’s game against the Lions would mark the second time in his career that he’s appeared in all 17 games.

He was sure to point that out on Wednesday, as well.

“Last year I missed a handful of games,” he said, “and played through injury as well. [This season] I’m letting guys know that whatever I go through throughout the week, or in that game, I’m going to be ready the following Sunday.”

The Vikings and Lions will play in Sunday Night Football’s regular-season finale. The winner will be the NFC North champion.
