Matthew Stafford made headlines on Tuesday. The Los Angeles Rams quarterback reported to the team’s training camp and got some good news along the way.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Rams intend to rework the Super Bowl champion quarterback’s contract. Stafford emphasized he wanted “more security” in his deal and it appears the Rams will do the work to make that happen.

Schefter also noted that before that reworking, the Rams owed Stafford $31 million in 2024.

Stafford is one of the best quarterbacks of his generation. The 2009 NFL Draft’s first overall pick has thrown for over 56,000 career passing yards during his illustrious run. Stafford won Super Bowl LVI with the Rams, taking down Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Keeping him happy is one of the bigger priorities, so it’s positive to see the Rams take this step. The NFL world had much to say over their decision to rework the contract, and Stafford’s decision to participate in training camp activities.
