The Detroit Lions will induct superstar former wide receiver and Pro Football Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson into the team’s Hall of Fame.
On Monday, the Lions announced that Johnson, whose tenure ended with the team on unfortunate terms, will enter the team’s Hall of Fame, the Pride of the Lions.
Detroit made it official with a post on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
“Introducing the newest Pride of the Lions, Calvin Johnson!” the team boasted.

The Lions drafted Johnson second overall in the 2007 NFL Draft. He went on to have one of the best and most prolific careers for a wide receiver in NFL history. With his massive size, speed, and abilities, Megatron was a terror for opposing defenses to deal with. Oftentimes, they simply had to just deal with him, because there was no way of stopping him.
No, not even triple coverage. You’ve seen the plays!
Calvin has been a beloved figure in Detroit, so this decision will surely warm many Lions fans’ hearts. Even through a lot of down years, Johnson was there and did his work. When he retired abruptly. it seemed the two sides were at odds. Especially financially.
But Monday’s announcement signals the end of that divisiveness between the superstar Johnson and his former team. Detroit already have plenty of good vibes around them. This decision may increase them tenfold.
