Over the past few months, billionaire Elon Musk has become one of the most controversial and high-profile individuals on the planet. But this week, one major sports star took to social media to express his support for Musk.
In a post on X this week, golf superstar Phil Mickelson shared his support for Elon Musk and thanked him for his role in the Donald Trump administration, saying that “we all owe him a huge gratitude.”
“It’s incredibly kind and generous of Elon Musk to help America become fiscally responsible,” Mickelson said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
“We all owe him a huge debt of gratitude. Nicole Tesla was unappreciated while he was alive despite his numerous contributions to humanity. I hope Elon is shown the appreciation he deserves in his lifetime,” he continued.
This comes after Trump gave a public display of support for Musk and his company Tesla. The president invited the media to watch as he purchased a brand new Tesla car right on the front lawn of the White House.
Trump picked out a red Tesla Model S, which retails for roughly $80,000, and said that he would write a check for the car and leave it at the White House so his staff can drive it.
The president called the cars a “great product” and pointed to Elon Musk, saying “we have to celebrate him.”
Musk is currently the richest man on the planet, even though Tesla’s stock price has dipped by more than 40 percent since Trump took office last month.
