The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired the struggling Cavan Biggio on Wednesday morning. Los Angeles swung a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays for the recently DFA’ed Biggio, the son of the Hall of Famer Craig.

The Dodgers parted ways with relief pitcher Braydon Fisher in exchange for Biggio, who they hope can turn it around after a dispiriting start to the season.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the network’s lead baseball insider, reported the news of the deal on Wednesday morning.

Sportsnet later provided details on Fisher being involved in the deal.

With Biggio’s struggles in mind, this is a low-risk deal for the Dodgers. If Los Angeles can unlock something in Biggio that the Blue Jays could not, they will surely reap the rewards. If things don’t work out, Biggio likely suffers the same fate he did in Toronto while the Dodgers were only poised to give up a relief pitcher on a team littered with arms.

The MLB world had much to say about the Dodgers and the trade they made for Biggio on Wednesday. Most joked that, because he was going to the Dodgers, Biggio might suddenly turn into an All-World hitter.
