According to a report on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers will acquire Cavan Biggio in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Biggio, recently designated for assignment, will begin anew in Los Angeles after spending his entire big league career thus far with the Jays.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported on the terms of the deal.

“The Los Angeles Dodgers are acquiring superutilityman Cavan Biggio in a trade from the Toronto Blue Jays,” Passan wrote on X.

Sportsnet added that the deal also included relief pitcher Braydon Fisher, who will go to Toronto.

Biggio struggled mightily this year before the Jays decided to DFA him. He hit .200/.323/.291 this season before that decision, a dispiriting run for the son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio. But now, a fresh start has arrived for him, so that change of scenery could do wonders for him.

The Blue Jays drafted Biggio in the fifth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft. Biggio arrived later in 2019 and burst onto the scene. He hit for the cycle in 2019, a notable achievement for the then-rookie Biggio. Since then, though, things obviously haven’t gone according to plan. Now he’s on the move from Toronto to LA.

It’s a low-risk move for Los Angeles, who won’t have to part ways with much to get Biggio. If he turns it around, then it’s the Dodgers’ gain.
