Dallas Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb drew his line in the proverbial sand Tuesday night. The Cowboys will be without their stud wide receiver for at least the beginning of their training camp.
Lamb wants to be paid, plain and simple, and he hasn’t gotten what he wants yet. So, the former Oklahoma standout has decided to continue his ongoing holdout. In doing so, Lamb will not attend Cowboys training camp, which is set to be underway Thursday in Oxnard, California.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the significant development Tuesday night on X, the popular website formerly known as Twitter.
Sources: Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb, who has been unable to land the type of contract extension that other wide receivers have, is not expected to report to training camp Wednesday with the rest of his team. Last season, Lamb recorded a league-high 135 receptions, 1,749 yards, and scored 12 touchdowns. In his career, he’s played 66 games and made magic happen. Lamb has recorded 395 receptions, 5,145 yards, and scored 32 career receiving touchdowns.
Lamb’s earned three consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl, and voters named him to the AP All-Pro First Team last season.
What’s clear is that Dallas has put itself in an unenviable position. All three of their stars are seeking new contracts, and the team can’t seem to be able to curtail that. How the Cowboys worm their way out of this situation will go a long way toward determining the team’s future.
