The Los Angeles Chargers have officially locked their 2024 NFL Draft class in. LA made that certain on Wednesday after they announced that they signed rookie star Ladd McConkey.
McConkey, who played for the National Champion Georgia Bulldogs in 2021 and 2022, figures to be a potential impact player for the team right from the jump. Especially since their wide receiver depth has shrunk this season.
The Chargers announced McConkey’s signing with a post on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

“Lightning Ladd,” the Chargers coined.
The Chargers underwent a significant overhaul this season. LA fired Brandon Staley and replaced him with National Championship-winning head coach Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh returned to the NFL after coaching Michigan from 2015 through the 2023 season. He coached the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014 and brought the team great success, as they went to three consecutive NFC Championship Games and Super Bowl 47.
Los Angeles also moved on from Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, two longtime Charger receivers, and Austin Ekeler exited the team as well. Now the Chargers will transform into something new. They still have quarterback Justin Herbert, which is as good of a piece you can have in their current situation. Fortunately, LA now has all of their rookies locked in. So, it’s go time.
