It’s no secret that Hunter Pence’s fundamentals and playing style are a bit… off. If you google “Hunter Pence odd” there are over 700,000 results. Every time this guy comes to the plate it looks like he just consumed six cans of Red Bull, eight cups of coffee, and probably a few speedballs. With so many moving parts its a miracle how he manages to hit the ball, much less hit it well.
But he’s made it work for seven major league seasons while posting an impressive .814 OPS and excellent fielding skills.
So what does a guy with the oddest mechanics in major league baseball over the past half century do? Teach your kids! Sort of.
