The Royals managed to steal a run from the Indians last night when they pulled off a crazy double steal that you don’t happen to see every day in the MLB.
With Alex Gordon on first and Alcides Escobar on third, Gordon took off for second base on a delayed steal and intentionally got in a rundown, opening the door for Escobar to try and take off for home. When Escobar finally did, he wound up getting caught in a short rundown of his own before faking out the Indians catcher and slipping by for a Royals run. While that unfolded, Gordon took second.
It’s the kind of play that you expect to see from youth baseball games, not the major leagues. But hey, it was entertaining as hell.
