Tennessee Titans rookie Jonathan “Tig” Willard is making a great name for himself before training camp has even started. Willard found his way into news headlines this week when he helped save a family and their dog from a burning car.
Willard, an undrafted free agent linebacker out of Clemson, spotted a car with black smoke coming out of it while driving from South Carolina to Tennessee for the Titans’ upcoming training camp.
After flashing his lights and honking his horn to alert the woman driving that her car was smoking, Willard convinced the woman to pull over and helped her, her three children and a dog out of the burning car.
“When she pulled over, the car was really on fire at that point,” Willard told TigerNet.com. “The driver, she acted like she was in some kind of daze or something. She told me that she didn’t stop because she didn’t think it was her car that was on fire. Another guy stopped, and we managed to get the kids and the dog out and get them to safety, and then I finally got the woman out.”
