We’ve seen bad three point attempts this year (paging, Blake Griffin!), but perhaps nothing compares to this crunch time monstrosity that Matt Barnes jacked up near the end of overtime Tuesday night in Dallas. In a hotly contested game that both the Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers needed to win, Barnes lined up a three from the top of the arc that was so wide open, it couldn’t have been blocked by three Manute Bols stacked on top of each other. Fortunately (for Dallas), Mr. Barnes bailed out a momentary lapse in the Mavs’ defensive rotation by launching the ugliest errant three-pointer we’ve seen in awhile.
The ball landed out of bounds with 22.9 seconds left, allowing Dallas to pull out a 109-102 victory, and securing a place for Barnes in the “Don’t Hold Your Follow Through Unless You Really Know It’s Going In” Hall of Fame.
