The FDA has now approved a hangover cure in the form of a pill, but we at Cosby Sweaters are slightly confused.
The over-the-counter “cure” is comprised of 1,000 milligrams of aspirin, 120 milligrams of caffeine and a “stomach-soothing agent.” All of that was put into two effervescent tablets which will apparently handle your hangover. Just like Alka-seltzer you just need to dissolve the pills in a glass of water, throw it down the hatch, and the remedy claims to knock out multiple hangover symptoms in just 15 to 30 minutes.
Blowfish runs $2.99 for a single dose, or $11.99 for a six-pack (clever). It is currently available in some NYC stores or online at ForHangovers.com, which offers free shipping and 24-hour courier service in Manhattan.
So, back to what is confusing to us. Essentially this looks to me like some genius got drunk, woke up, had a cup of coffee, took a Tums, and 2 pills of Aspirin and thought that it would be super cool if you could do all at once. BOOM! Toss all those in a pill, package it up, and sell it as the hangover cure of all hangover cures. I love the thought process, but if the creator of this becomes a billionaire I will be pissed off.
A hangover is not curable. I consider myself a pretty experienced drinker and I have tried everything the next morning. The closest I have come to a cure is either drinking 2 Coconut waters and taking 2 Excedrin, or by starting to drink again. Neither are a cure, but more of a short term band-aid.
With that said, you can bet your life that I will be ordering these pills TONIGHT to try it out, but odds are I will end up going back to taking aspirin, drinking coffee, and taking Tums the way it was intended.
