The Buffalo Bills are looking to finally get over the hump that is the Kansas City Chiefs. Up to this point star quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills have not been able to slay the dragon, but after being the only team to defeat the Chiefs’ starters this season, there’s plenty of reason for hope this time.

To make matters even better for Buffalo, the NFL intends to let the Bills get away with a blatant violation of the rulebook for as long as they continue to advance.

In Sunday’s win against the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo guard  O’Cyrus Torrence pulled running back James Cook into the endzone for a touchdown, a move which is prohibited by the NFL rulebook, but no flag was thrown on the play.

According to Pro Football Talk’s source, there will be no flags thrown for subsequent violations by Buffalo throughout the remainder of the playoffs.

“instructing them to call it now would represent too much of a change from the enforcement of the rules to date in the 2024 season,” the source explained as the reason for the league’s decision to continue violating the rule.

It doesn’t look like the rule will be allowed to be broken forever though.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio has reported that the rule will be revisited in the offseason to determine whether flags need to be thrown or if the rule needs to be axed from the rulebook.

In the meantime, it would be wise to follow Buffalo’s example for the remaining teams in the playoffs.
