Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes was widely considered the top player in the league entering this season, but it’s safe to say that he did not have the season he or anyone else would have expected.
On Thursday morning, the NFL announced its Pro Bowl rosters for this year’s game, and Patrick Mahomes was not one of those selected.
The NFL announced that Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen made the Pro Bowl this season, and Mahomes is on the outside looking in.
Of course, this is shocking because of Mahomes’ name recognition and star power, but the numbers indicate that this was the right decision.
Mahomes does second in the AFC in completions and ranks third in yards, but his passer rating of 93.2 is very mediocre compared to the other player who made the Pro Bowl and he had just 26 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions.
This marks the first time since Mahomes emerged as a full-time starter that he has missed the Pro Bowl.
Until this season, Mahomes had made six consecutive Pro Bowls between 2018 and 2023.
While this is obviously horrible news for Mahomes, the good news is that his team has been successful despite his lackluster stats.
The Chiefs have the best record in the AFC and have already locked up the No. 1 seed and the first-round bye in the playoffs.
Still, this isn’t exactly great news for the star quarterback.
