Netflix had a disaster on its hands over the weekend.

The streaming service made its first foray into the live sports world, as it streamed the boxing match between YouTube content creator Jake Paul and boxing legend Mike Tyson. Unfortunately, things did not go well.

The event was an almost completely unbearable experience for fans, as the steam shut out multiple times due to buffering issues. Fans quickly realized that they would be in trouble come Christmas time.

Netflix is set to stream NFL games for the first time on Christmas Day, December 25. Two games will be featured on the service, one between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and another between the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens.

Boxing is a niche sport and Netflix’s failures still caused outrage, one can only imagine what the response would be if NFL games were also subject to constant outages.

In an anticipatory move, Netflix is making a desperate move to please fans, although there’s a decent chance it will leave them even angrier.

Netflix announced on its official Twitter account that Beyoncé will perform at halftime during the game between the Texans and Ravens. If Beyoncé’s halftime show lags and buffers the same way that the boxing match did fans will be incensed, and there’s been nothing from  Netflix to show that things are going to be different.

It’ll be interesting to see how things play out.
