Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, arguably the top wideout in the league, has requested a trade from the organization, and one team in particular is gaining momentum in his sweepstakes.
Per Steeler Nation, Adams has expressed his preference to be traded to the New York Jets, but the Jets’ recent firing of head coach Robert Saleh is sure to fire any trade talks between the organizations. Adams is also said to be interested in a trade to the New Orleans Saints, where he’d be reunited with quarterback Derek Carr. Unfortunately, Carr went down with an injury on Monday night that will keep him out for at least the next two weeks. With the Saints sitting at 2-3 with Carr, it looks like there’s a strong chance they’ll drop to 2-5 without him, and Adams clearly has no interest in being on a losing team.
This should all bode well for the Steelers, who have already been aggressively making offers to land Adams.
Fans reacted online to the news that things were trending well for the chances of Adams landing in Pittsburgh.
“Arte can send a copy of the offensive scheme out to him. We are headed to Vegas this weekend anyway,” one fan said on Twitter.
“We need a coach not a WR. We have good players and they are not being used properly,” a jaded fan added.
“So, he’ll go from being unhappy on one team to being unhappy in Pittsburgh. Pass,” someone added.
“Glad we know the deadline is at least right around the corner and we don’t gotta drag this on for monthsssss,” a fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how things play out. With the Steelers already sporting an elite defense, adding Adams could turn them into an instant Super Bowl contender.
