Jason Kelce Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Jason Kelce is transitioning to a career in media after an illustrious playing career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

As he makes the transition into the media, we’re learning more about the man under the helmet. One thing that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, is that Kelce is not a big fan of the analytical direction the NFL is heading in.

On a recent episode of his New Heights podcast with his brother, Travis, Kelce talked about his feelings on people who prioritize statistics instead of making decisions based on what’s happening on the field.

“Stats are numbers,” said Jason, according to Awful Announcing. “What I care about is the football. Where does it go? Does it go in the end zone? Do we get points? Points are also numbers, but points determine games and wins and losses. Stats are numbers, numbers are nerds, nerds are losers, therefore stats are losers.”

Suffice it to say, that people were not pleased with his proclamation.

“Sounds like something a dumb football player would say, nice,” one person said on Twitter.

“Please make it stop,” said another.

“The only reason Kelce has a championship ring is Matt Patricia was the opposing defensive coordinator in the Super Bowl that year,” someone said.

“‘Why does my pay check not have any numbers? What do you mean numbers are for nerds?’ – Jason Kelce,” another person wrote.

Kelce will learn in time to use more sensitivity when discussing things, but if he doesn’t learn fast he’ll be at risk of alienating his potential fans before his media career takes off.
