With the United States presidential election heating up between Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump, one current college men’s basketball coach took to social media to criticize Harris. But the move seems to have backfired on him, sparking outrage and drawing mass criticism.
It all started this week when Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas shared a post on social media criticizing Kamala Harris for her healthcare policies.
“Kamala Harris is so extreme she wants to kick you off the health insurance you get through your job. Like a true San Francisco radical, she wants everyone—even illegal aliens—on a government plan,” Cotton said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
The post caught the attention of Auburn Tigers men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl, who offered a particularly scathing criticism of Harris.
Thank you for pointing this out Senator Cotton, except my guess is that like many of her socialist, woke progressive beliefs she's now changing them or hiding them to get elected! We won't get fooled again! https://t.co/qTuLHxjADV

“Thank you for pointing this out Senator Cotton, except my guess is that like many of her socialist, woke progressive beliefs she’s now changing them or hiding them to get elected! We won’t get fooled again!” Pearl said in his post.
Needless to say, these words quickly sparked outrage among the social media world.
This is the first time in the history of college basketball recruiting that opposing coaches are just going to show recruits Bruce Pearl’s tweets. https://t.co/zy0H6lnE7c

Bruce Pearl is exactly who lefties think of when we think of a Republican. Dude has jumped around America and NCAA being an absolute slime ball for 30 years https://t.co/qXaQxYUmCY

To all Black ballplayers and their parents considering @AuburnMBB, this is the trash @coachbrucepearl tweets. There are many other SEC schools to consider. Choose accordingly. https://t.co/MDY4BJzM1T

Man has more far right propaganda on his page than tweets about Auburn basketball https://t.co/Xbfs05hFYB

Hey Bruce you’re in the midst of a $50 million dollar contract, I don’t think any changes to health insurance will affect you.
Do we know her stance on your DUIs? https://t.co/7Kc4mT0usX

Anyone that would send their child to Auburn is out of their mind. He says his tweets and opinions are his own, but will that be the case when recruits begin considering other schools? @AuburnMBB @AuburnU https://t.co/umbwirfKx4

It’s also worth noting that the article Cotton shared is not even Harris’ current platform as it was written back in 2020.
