In a rather bizarre storyline leading up to the next college football season, it sounds like one school will be changing the name of its stadium and naming it after a prominent singer and rapper.
According to a report from college football insider Pete Thamel of ESPN, Grammy-winning rapper Pitbull has purchased naming rights to the football stadium of the FIU Panthers and will be naming the stadium after himself for the next five years.
“International recording artist Pitbull is purchasing the naming rights to FIU’s football stadium. He’s expected to pay the school $1.2 million per year for the next five years to change the name of FIU Stadium to Pitbull Stadium, per FIU board documents,” Thamel said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s not clear whether or not Pitbull has any specific connection to FIU, but he was born and raised in Miami, Florida where FIU is located, attending Miami Coral Park High School before beginning his music career.
It will certainly be interesting to see whether or not this means that we will see Pitbull attending FIU Panthers football games at any point in the future.
