The family of former Washington Commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins is suing his widow for “constant harassment.”
A driver behind the wheel of a dump truck struck Haskins on a South Florida highway on April 9, 2022.
The former Ohio State Buckeyes standout was only 24 years old.
From the outside, it would appear that the family and the widow haven’t been able to see eye-to-eye in their grief over the tragic death of the young quarterback.
“Ever since the tragic death of their son and brother, the Haskins Family has experienced constant harassment from the Defendant whenever they have attempted to reference his name, image and likeness in public forums such as social media,” the lawsuit says, according to sports law reporter Jason Morrin, who shared the brief on Twitter, the social media platform currently marketed as X.
The lawsuit alleges Haskins’ widow, Kalabrya Haskins, “contacted Instagram to have the accounts of Haskins’ parents disabled as recently as May 2024.” The lawsuit also alleges that Kalabrya “challenged the establishment of the Haskins Family Foundation.”
Haskins’ estate reached a “partial settlement” with the truck driver that killed him. Haskins’ family alleged that the truck was speeding, driving carelessly, and had a cargo load exceeding the legal weight limit,” according to Fox News.
Haskins had a blood alcohol content of .20% at the time of his death, per the Broward County Medical Examiner’s office—nearly three times the legal limit for operating a moto vehicle.
