This week, the Dallas Cowboys faced some pretty brutal news as key pass rusher Sam Williams suffered a season-ending knee injury during training camp, and it sounds like the team is already making some moves to patch the hole that his injury leaves on the depth chart.
According to a report from Todd Archer of ESPN, the Dallas Cowboys brought in multiple pass rushers for a workout, including veteran defensive end Carl Lawson, who has some history with new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.
“The Cowboys are working out some pass rushers Thursday in the wake of Sam Williams knee injury, including veteran Carl Lawson, who played in Cincinnati for Mike Zimmer, according to a source,” Archer said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

While Williams was not a starter for the team, he was certainly a key contributor, playing meaningful snaps in every single one of Dallas’ cames last season as the team’s third EDGE player behind first-teamers Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.
Clearly, the injury to Williams leaves the Cowboys in need of more depth on the defensive line. We’ll have to see who they ultimately decide to sign.
