It sounds like the Cowboys are dealing with what could be a pretty significant injury to one of their key defensive players during training camp.
According to a report from Nick Harris of the Dallas Cowboys team website, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams had to be carted off the field during Sunday’s practice after he suffered what appeared to be a knee injury.
“Uh oh. Sam Williams is down and needs the cart to come off the field. Described as ‘not good’ from someone who saw the injury live,” Harris said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Williams is not necessarily one of the team’s top two edge players with DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons holding those roles, but he is certainly a key contributor on the defensive line.
The former second-round pick appeared in every single game for the Cowboys last year, finishing with the season with 4.5 sacks, 48 tackles, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 16 quarterback hits.
Obviously, it’s a scary injury for Williams. The Cowboys will be hoping that it turns out to be nothing serious and that he will be ready to play this season.
