Before the start of last season NFL, the New York Jets had Super Bowl aspirations, but those dreams were crushed quickly when Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending ACL injury on his first drive with the team. But it sounds like Rodgers is still bullish on the team’s chances this year.

During a recent press conference as the New York Jets get set to begin training camp, Aaron Rodgers made it clear that he thinks his team is one of the “8-to-12 teams” that can realistically win the super bowl this upcoming season.

“It has to be the goal. The beauty is, every single year there’s 8-to-12 teams — maybe, probably less — but 8-to-12 teams that can actually do it. We’re one of those 8-to-12,” Rodgers said in a video shared on social media by SNY.

Obviously, these are some pretty bold words about a team that has not even made the playoffs since 2010, so it will be interesting to see whether or not the team can live up to those lofty expectations.

If the team is going to contend for a Super Bowl this season, it will likely require Rodgers to remain healthy throughout the season. We’ll have to see if that happens.
